Fried Green Tomato BLT

It's not only an incredible movie, it's also an incredible sando (Kathy bates approved)!!

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour 

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 cup cornmeal

2 eggs 

1 cup whole milk

2 green tomatoes 

5 pieces of bacon

Romaine Lettuce

½ avocado

1 tbsp mayonaise

1 loaf of sourdough bread

Salt & Pepper

Cayenne Pepper

Slice your green tomatoes into ½ cm slices, lay on a paper towel, salt the tomato slices and set aside.

Cook your bacon on medium-high heat until crispy and set aside.

In a bowl mix a cup of flour with a teaspoon of salt.

In a separate bowl, mix two eggs with a cup of whole milk.

In a third separate bowl mix one cup of panko breadcrumbs with one cup of cornmeal, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and mix.

Take your sliced green tomatoes and blot off extra moisture with a paper towel.

Coat your tomatoes in flour, dip in egg wash, then crumb mixture and set on a parchment paper lined tray.

Pour your Sizzle into a high-walled fry pan so it's at least a one inch high layer and turn to a medium-high heat.

Place 3-5 slices of your bread green tomatoes in your fry pan and fry until golden brown.

Set aside fried tomatoes on a paper towel.

Slice your sourdough and toast two pieces until lightly golden.

Thinly slice your avocado and place on one side of your sourdough.

Add mayo to the inside of your other slice of toast.

Top the avocado with three leaves of romaine, bacon, green tomatoes, and close your sandwich.
